Faulty switch blamed for rural power outage

THUNDER BAY — Hundreds of rural hydro customers were knocked off the grid by an overnight power outage on Monday.

Hydro One reports that nearly 800 of its customers in Oliver-Paipoonge were affected.

The outage started just before midnight and lasted until about 4:30 Monday morning

A Hydro One spokesperson said power was restored after a crew repaired a faulty switch.
