OTTAWA — Workers in private sectors regulated by the federal government will see their wage rate increase to a minimum of $15.55 per hour next month.
The hike from the current minimum of $15.00 per hour takes effect on April 1.
The rate is adjusted automatically on April 1 each year, based on the average annual increase in the Consumer Price Index, which was 3.4 per cent in the previous calendar year.
The increase applies to workers in businesses such as banks, postal and courier services, telecommunications, broadcasting and interprovincial air, road and marine transportation.
Ontario's minimum wage for workers in non-federally-regulated businesses is currently $15 an hour.
