THUNDER BAY – The city has received $157,500 in matching funds from the federal government for a pair of flood mitigation projects.

Ottawa is spending $100,000 to update the existing flood-plan mapping on Mosquito Creek within Thunder Bay.

The city will spend an equal amount on the one-year project.

The feds have also contributed $57,500 for a flood access and egress study on the Mcintyre and Neebing rivers and McVicar and Pennock creeks.

The city will kick in $56,000 and the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority is giving $1,500.

Both projects began in April.
