Field Street homicide suspects appear in court Friday

All six suspects in a Field Street homicide appeared in court Friday.

Larissa Shingebis, 20; Felton Sakanee, 26, Kevin Wabason, 38; James Chapais, 33; Christopher Meeseetawagesic, 25; and Keith Mishenene, 21, were all charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of 44-year-old Lloyd Oskineegish on July 18.
Police discovered the victim’s burned remains in a wooded area near Field Street and police said Oskineegish was the victim of a violent assault.

All six suspects appeared in person at the Thunder Bay Courthouse Friday morning.

Shingebis, Sakanee, Wabason, Meeseetawagesic and Mishenene were remanded to Nov. 14 when the Crown said they will have disclosure from the Thunder Bay Police Service.

Chapais was remanded to Nov. 21.

All suspects are in custody.

None of the allegations against any of the accused have been proven in court.
