NOSFA President Marty Mascarin said there will be a few changes to ensure things run smoothly. In the past, the association booked four theatres at Famous Players Silver City. That isn’t the case this year.

Instead, all 13 films will appear in two theatres.

“Our schedule is slightly slimmed down from previous years,” Mascarin said.

“We’re operating with two theatres as opposed to four. One reason we were given was increase pressure for theatre space. It maybe cliché but it’s the numbers game. Any time you look at the Monday report what are they talking about?

“The weekend box office and that’s Friday, Saturday and Sunday, which includes our schedule so that affects us a little bit.”

Mascarin added that they have strategized the best way for movie patrons to see some of the bigger named films and have dedicated a few days for movie one-offs.

For example, My Week with Marilyn will have a special screening on Thursday, March 22.

Because of the reduced screenings, the film association dumped festival passes.

Catherine Powell, film fest co-ordinator, said it wasn’t worth it for movie patrons to buy an all access pass because of the two-theatre setup.

She added that six pack passes are still available for purchase at the reduced price of $30.

“We’ve adjusted the admission to reflect the slightly fewer screenings than we’re used to having,” Powell said. “Single admission remains at $6 and for non-members it is $9, and our memberships are $10.

“If you are planning on seeing more than one film, it is well worth it to get a membership.”

Powell reminded interested movie goers that simply having a ticket may not mean they will get in to see the film.

The first films on the Sunday showings will begin at 9:50 a.m. and 10:05 a.m.

A full list of times will be posted on the North of Superior Film Association website sometime this week.
