THUNDER BAY -- Tenants of a Banning Street home that caught on fire early on Tuesday morning were examined by paramedics, but later released.

According to Thunder Bay Fire Rescue, heavy smoke was showing from the rear of the home, which led to an aggressive offensive attack and forcible entry being made into the structure.

A second alarm was called and crews quickly knocked down the blaze, keeping it to the kitchen area of the home.

Five pumpers and a ladder truck responded. The cause of the fire is under investigation at this time.
