THUNDER BAY -- For a second straight day, Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews had to retrieve a man walking on harbour ice.

In a release issued on Saturday night, TBFR says they received a call just after 11 a.m. about an individual who had walked onto thin ice in front of a waterfront restaurant at Prince Arthur's Landing.

The man subsequently refused a request from firefighters to return to shore and began to walk further out toward the breakway.

A rescue air boat was quickly launched, but upon reaching him, it was determined he was no co-operative. Police then assisted to bring the man ashore.

No one was injured during the incident.

Once again Thunder Bay Fire Rescue officials remind the public that walking onto the harbour ice is strictly prohibited unless permission is obtained first from the Thunder Bay Port Authority or the harbour master.
