THUNDER BAY - A resident and pet safely evacuated a home on the city's south side after an early morning kitchen fire resulted in heavy smoke.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to reports of a kitchen fire at 4:15 a.m. Sunday morning on the 500 block of McBain Street.
When the first unit arrived on the scene, heavy smoke was observed coming from the home and a second alarm was called.
The lone occupant of the house and a dog were already out of the house before fire crews arrived and there are no reports of any injuries.
A total of five pumpers, one aerial ladder, and the platoon chief responded.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
