Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that gutted a garage and melted some nearby hydro lines early Monday morning.

Fire investigators are looking into the cause of a fire that gutted a garage and melted some nearby hydro lines early Monday morning.

Officials with the Thunder Bay Fire Service say firefighters responded to the blaze on South Catherine Street around 12:20 a.m.

About 20 firefighters from Vickers, Brown and James Street stations attended the scene and quickly brought the fire under control.

The extreme heat from the blaze meted hydro lines near the back of the property.

Damage caused by the fire was confined to the garage and overhead hydro wiring. Damage to the garage and the contents inside is being described as excessive.

No injuries to firefighters were reported as a result of this fire.
