Fire hall to displace indoor programming at North Neebing Community Centre

Starting Friday’s all indoor activities at the North Neebing Community Centre will be on the move to other parts of Thunder Bay.

Starting Friday’s all indoor activities at the North Neebing Community Centre will be on the move to other parts of Thunder Bay.

The change in venue is necessary to accommodate the Neebing Station Fire Rescue operations, which have to be moved while a new firehouse is constructed.

The present fire station will remain in use until June.

The city is building two new fire halls as part of its latest five-year strategic plan, also constructing one in Westfort.

“This is a great example of team work to improve emergency service,” said Neebing Ward Coun.  Linda Rydholm said in a release issued Wednesday by the city.

“We appreciate everyone's efforts to make this happen. By next year, we will have a fully-modernized Fire Rescue facility to serve the Neebing Ward residents.”

City officials say programming at the North Neebing Community Centre will mainly be shifted to West Arthur and Vickers Heights community centres.
