Firefighters are about to start heading door-to-door in search of working smoke detectors.
The annual residential inspection will be taking place for the remainder of the summer. Fire officials say they plan to emphasize the legal requirement to have a working smoke alarm on every storey of a residence.
“Statistics continue to demonstrate an unacceptable number of homes and families that are not protected by working smoke alarms,” said Fire Chief John Hay in a release issued Tuesday.
