The forest fire season continues to gain momentum in Northwestern Ontario,
At least five new fires have started in the region in the past three days.
Warmer than normal temperatures and moderate winds are said to be major factors in the ongoing high fire hazard the region faces.
The hazard is moderate in the region except for the Fort Frances and Thunder Bay Districts, which are rated as high.
The MNR estimates that 22 fires have burned more than 440 hectares since the fire season began.
