THUNDER BAY -- A portion of Chippewa Road was shut down Monday following reports about a person in the area apparently spotted with a firearm.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers responded at about 11:30 a.m. and closed off Chippewa Road between Highway 61 and Mountain Road.

But it turned out to be a false alarm, as the weapon in question was actually a paintball gun.

The street was reopened after about half an hour.
