Firearms stolen during break and enter

Police are asking for the public's assistance in locating a suspect following a break and enter.

THUNDER BAY -- City police are investigating a break and enter after a number of firearms were reported stolen from a south side home.

According to Thunder Bay Police Service, the break and enter happened at a residence in the 2500 block of Broadway Avenue Thursday between 11 a.m. and 1:50 p.m.

The homeowner arrived home to find that entry had been forced and the residence had been ransacked.

Police say numerous rifles, shotguns, handguns and ammunition had been stolen from the home.

The suspect also took a custom three-foot long sword with a white handle, a television, significant amount of jewelry and other items.

Officers are looking for information from any witnesses that may have seen a suspicious person or vehicle in the area of Broadway Avenue during the lunch hour Thursday afternoon.
