KAKABEKA FALLS, Ont. – Four people were able to escape after a fire destroyed a Kakabeka Falls home and adjoined business early Tuesday morning.

Oliver Paipoonge fire crews were called to the KB Laundromat on Highway 11/17 shortly after 3 a.m. and found the building ablaze.

“On arrival it was fully engulfed. Everybody got out and there are no injuries,” fire chief Mike Horan said.

Horan said the building was a complete loss and two trucks parked nearby were also damaged from the fire, which took crews about an hour to knock down.

He also said while the cause has yet to be determined it’s not believed to be suspicious.

“It’s going to be hard to tell but we’re going to do our investigation and come up with some kind of estimate,” Horan said.
