Fire crews responded to a house fire on the city’s south side Tuesday.
District chief Mark Zigman said they got the call to an Empire Avenue home to find smoke pouring out of it.
“We pulled up and we saw quite heavy smoke coming from the attic vent,” he said.
Firefighters forced the back door of the home.
The house was vacant as it was being renovated. Zigman said he didn’t know how bad the damage was.
“I’ve been told that the kitchen is where the fire was confined to,” he said.
The investigation continues.
