Firefighters contain Francis Street fire

Single-family home sustains heavy damage as a result of the fire.

THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews were able to prevent a Francis Street fire from spreading to adjacent structures early on Wednesday morning.

In a release, TBFR officials say they were called to the residential fire at about 2:30 a.m. and arrived to find smoke pouring from the single-family home.

A second alarm was called and an interior attack began. A second attack line was set up once the second crew arrived and the fire was quickly brought under control.

There were no injuries in the incident, but the home sustained heavy damage and the fire remains under investigation.
