THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Fire Rescue officials are warning the public to steer clear of thin ice as an unseasonably warm streak softens an early-receding winter.
Firefighters were called to a rescue in the waterfront on Wednesday afternoon, responding to a group of teenaged males out on the ice shooting photos for a school assignment.
"We're just concerned this time of year," said fire rescue Capt. Robert Dipaolo. "The ice is very unstable, especially with this weather. We urge people to stay off the ice."
No one was charged in the incident.
