FORT WILLIAM FIRST NATION — Thunder Bay residents looking to enjoy a traditional Canada Day fireworks display will need only to look to the sky above Mount McKay on Wednesday.
The City of Thunder Bay cancelled its show, but Fort William First Nation is going ahead with what Chief Peter Collins expects will be a "pretty good" display.
"We're going to set up on the mountain but nobody's gonna be allowed to come up. People can see them all from Mission Road and from the city," Collins told tbnewswatch.com.
He said community members wanted to see fireworks, and individuals who have been involved in the fireworks display in previous years volunteered to set them off.
"We're hoping to put on a good show, and hopefully the whole city gets to see them," Collins said.
He said it will be a bigger display than in the past, as some donations have topped off the money that FWFN puts into the fireworks.
Chief Collins expects the show will begin sometime between 10:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.
