Some First Nation youth leaders from this area have had the opportunity to meet with an international expert investigating Aboriginal issues in Canada.
Julaine Trudeau of Muskrat Dam First Nation, Kathryn Morris of Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug and Samantha Crowe and Uko Abara all met with James Anaya in Ottawa on Monday.
Anaya, the special United Nations rapporteur on the rights of indigenous peoples, has been in Canada since early last week and has visited seven provinces to examine Aboriginal issues.
The group is presenting the findings from the Feathers of Hope Forum that was held earlier in Thunder Bay this year.
That meeting brought together 91 northern Ontario First Nation communities to develop an action plan addressing issues in their communities.
