First of its kind bar pregnancy test dispenser to promote FASD awareness

It's the first of its kind in Canada, and it is right here in Thunder Bay. A pregnancy test dispenser has been unveiled at Lakehead University, inside the women's washroom at the Outpost bar.

It's the first of its kind in Canada, and it is right here in Thunder Bay.

A pregnancy test dispenser has been unveiled at Lakehead University, inside the women's washroom at the Outpost bar.

The groundbreaking move has one goal in mind -- raise awareness around Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and the effects of drinking alcohol while pregnant.

The tests are available for $3.

It's all part of the Think before you Drink campaign that kicked off last July.

LU Student Union vice-president Charmaine Romaniuk hopes the dispenser has a powerful effect on people and the decisions they make.

Romaniuk says if a woman knows she's pregnant and stops drinking within 18 days of it happening, FASD will not affect the baby.
