First phase of course’s $4.5 million renovation
All 9 holes of Superior National’s River Course are complete

Lutsen, Minn. – Sept. 23, 2015 – The River Course at Superior National in Lutsen, Minn. is scheduled to open Monday, Sept. 28, 2015, but the first two holes (River 1, 2 and 9) opened on Monday, Sept. 14, giving golfers a sneak peek at the course’s improvements.

“The course provides spectacular views of Lake Superior with the Sawtooth Mountains serving as backdrop while the rugged Poplar River winds its way through the cavernous geological cuts of the golf course.  Superior National was rated by Golf Digest Magazine as the Number 1 course in the state,” says Linda Kratt, executive director of Visit Cook County. “I am fortunate to golf there with my league weekly, and am extremely excited about the improvements that have been made during the past couple years.”

Logan Dahlke, club house manager added:

“The bunkers have been reshaped and filled with new “Ohio’s Best” White Sand. We’ve added a new set of tee boxes, allowing golfers to play from a broader range of yardages including new wall-to-wall irrigation throughout entire renovation. In addition, we’ve widened the fairways, improved drainage and made them more golfer friendly. The signature hole (River 2) is patterned after Augusta’s famous hole #12.”

A ribbon cutting with Superior National’s designer Jeffrey D. Brauer of Mansfield, Texas, and the course’s board of governors is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m.

Brauer’s work has been spotlighted in most major golf magazines. Golf World ranked him as one of the top 20 golf course architects, and Golf Inc. ranked him as the world's fourth best value in golf architecture in 2010.  https://youtu.be/1hkaXj2vDyI
