THUNDER BAY – The City of Thunder Bay is pleased to host 2018 Juno Nominees Five Alarm Funk at Live on the Waterfront, presented by Ontario Power Generation, on July 11.

“This one has potential to be Thunder Bay’s biggest summer dance party,” said Ash Young, Cultural Development & Events Supervisor. “We are excited to present Five Alarm Funk at Live on the Waterfront.”

Creating music for more than a decade, the Vancouver-based eclectic eight-piece band remains as impossible as ever to put inside a box. While they are rooted in a style that fits the band’s name, they thrive on being able to transcend genre by seamlessly mixing elements of gypsy, rock, Afro-funk, Latin, ska, punk and, even at times, progressive metal. Five Alarm Funk’s album Sweat was nominated for a 2018 Juno for Instrumental Album of the Year.

Thunder Bay’s Martin Blanchet Jazz Quintet: Café Paris and Hunt & Gather will also perform this Wednesday.

Live on the Waterfront, funded in part by the Government of Ontario, runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. every Wednesday from July 11 to August 29.
