THUNDER BAY — Five people face charges after a drug bust on the city's south side.

Thunder Bay police said a search warrant was executed at a residential address on the 200 block of Vickers Street on Thursday afternoon after an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking at that location.

A search of the home led to the seizure of what police call a significant quantity of suspected cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, and crystal meth, along with paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking and cash.

Five people were arrested, with four of the suspects — 30-year-old Benjamin Joshua Boachie, 27-year-old Joseph Eleazar Boachie, 29-year-old Samuel Sebastiao Elvira, and 29-year-old Andrel Tenneyson Velvet — being residents of Toronto. The fifth, 37-year-old Renee Helen Violet Singleton, is from Thunder Bay.

Police said the estimated street value of the drugs is more than $110,000. The amount of cash seized is believed to be more than $5,000.

All five of the accused face multiple counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, while three are charged with possession of an identity document.

All five appeared in bail court on Friday and remain in custody with future appearance dates scheduled.

The charges have yet to be tested in court.
