THUNDER BAY – Five people, including a 25 year-old member of the Crips street gang, were arrested and are behind bars after a Dease Street drug bust.

City police said a small amount of crack cocaine, contaminated drug paraphernalia and between $10,000 and $15,000 in cash were seized.

Yaqub Mohamed, a Scarborough, Ont. native and alleged gang member, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Toronto’s Anthony Gillespie, 24, Thunder Bay’s Lorraine Chief, 51 and Jeffrey Perreault, 45, face the same charges.

Thunder Bay’s Walter Baxter, 27, faces those two charges and breach of probation.

All five suspects appeared in court on Thursday morning and were remanded into custody.

A total of eight people were found inside the residence when police descended on the home, located in the first block of the south-side street. Two of those found on the premises were youths.
