THUNDER BAY – Five people have been arrested following an alleged home takeover on the city’s north side.

According to a release issued on Friday by Thunder Bay Police, the accused were arrested on drug-trafficking charges after the community- oriented engagement unit was sent to a residential address in the 200 block of Blucher Avenue on Thursday, just before 11:30 a.m.

Police say upon entering the home they observed evidence of drug-trafficking activity and the suspects were located and arrested without incident.

A quantity of crack cocaine, cash, paraphernalia consistent with drug activity and firearm ammunition were allegedly recovered at the scene.

The drugs have an approximate street value of $10,000, police say.

Five people from Thunder Bay, ranging in age from 27 to 34, were charged with a variety of offences, including possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Three of the accused were charged with failing to comply with a probation order.

A 34-year-old woman was released with conditions and a future court date, while the other four were remanded into custody following bail court appearances on Friday.
