Five new COVID-19 cases in Thunder Bay area

Three of the cases involve residents or staff at Southbridge Roseview long-term care.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is reporting five new COVID-19 cases in the City of Thunder Bay or immediate surrounding area.

Three of the cases are connected to the outbreak at Southbridge Roseview long-term care home on Shuniah Street.

They include two residents and one staff member, bringing the number of current active cases at the nursing home to 33, three more than what was reported on Sunday.

The number of Southbridge Roseview residents who have died after contracting COVID-19 remains at 15.

The TBDHU reports that five previously-diagnosed cases within its coverage area have been resolved since Sunday.

The total number of reported active cases in the city and district stands at 85, one more than on Sunday.

No one in the city or district  is currently in hospital receiving treatment for COVID-19.
