THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported five new COVID-19 cases in its catchment area on Wednesday.

All five cases are in the City of Thunder Bay or immediate surrounding area.

An analysis of TBDHU data shows that the infected individuals include three who are older than 70, and two between the ages of 30 and 59.

The health unit listed close contact as the exposure category for the new cases, and said all five people are self-isolating.

The episode dates – corresponding to the earliest date reported, whether symptom onset, specimen collection, lab test or date reported to TBDHU – range between Nov. 15 and Nov. 23.

The number of active cases in the TBDHU's jurisdiction fell Wednesday to 75, a drop of seven from Tuesday.

Two people are in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre receiving treatment for COVID-19, but neither is in the intensive care unit.
