Police are looking for a man and woman after the floatplane they were on went down near Red Lake.

Police are looking for a man and woman after the floatplane they were on went down near Red Lake.

OPP and the Transport Safety Board of Canada are both looking for the passengers of the plane after it took off from the Red Lake waterway around 5:30 p.m. Thursday. The plane was en route to a tourist camp north of Red Lake.

Police believe a man and woman from the United States were the only ones onboard the plane. Police have yet to identify the passengers.

Police say the crash happened around the area known as the Bruce Channel near McKenzie Island, 200 metres from shore.

A search of the area has started.

The investigation is ongoing.
