THUNDER BAY - A flood watch issued on Saturday remains in effect for the city of Thunder Bay and surrounding municipalities as more rain is forecasted for Sunday.

The watch was issued for Thunder Bay, the municipalities of Neebing, Oliver Paipoonge, Shuniah, and the townships of O’Connor, Conmee, Gillies, and Dorion.

With between 50 and 75 millimetres of rain expected in some areas this weekend, the possibility of thunderstorms through Sunday could result in higher amounts of precipitation.

High intensity rainfall can cause river levels to rise quickly and water to collect in low-lying areas.

Members of the public are advised to exercise caution in and around waterways during rainfall.

The flood watch will remain in effect until Monday at 12 p.m. unless updated earlier.
