THUNDER BAY — Some pharmacies in Thunder Bay are now offering vaccinations against influenza.
Ontario pharmacies are authorized to provide flu shots to people five years of age and older.
Health care providers may provide immunization against the flu for those six months of age or older.
Pharmacies may also give a special high-dose vaccine to individuals 65 and over, and a vaccine for those at least nine years old who have severe egg allergies.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit this week began accepting bookings for flu shots its nurses will administer to children under five and their families.
A notice on the TBDHU website says it will share information on flu shot clinics that are open to the public as soon as details are available.
Its staff in district communities are working with local health care providers on the provision of flu shots, but district pharmacies will also provide flu shots to those five years and older.
