DRYDEN, Ont. – Police have made an arrest related to a recent theft in Dryden.
Dryden Police Service received a call on Oct. 15 around 10:30 a.m. from a clothing store on King Street reporting a man stealing merchandise from the store.
Around 10:55, an officer located the male suspect at the Dryden Library.
Police say as the officer attempted to arrest the suspect a physical altercation took place where the officer was assaulted and the suspect fled on foot.
The foot chase continued into the pedestrian overpass where the accused jumped from a second flight of stairs and continued to run.
Police were able to arrest the suspect in the CPR yard on Queen Street just after 11 a.m.
The man has been charged with assaulting a peace officer, resisting peace officer, failure to comply with recognizance, theft under $5,000 and enter on land which a line work is situated.
He is set to appear in bail court on Oct. 23.
One officer sustained injuries as a result of this incident.
