A former co-manager of the Attawapiskat First Nation has been charged with theft and fraud.
Officials with the Nishnawbe Aski Police Service say the charges against Clayton Kennedy come in connection with an investigation launched in February of last year.
They relate to the period between 2010 and 2012, when Kennedy was in charge of the Attawapiskat bands' finances.
Kennedy, who is also the partner of Attawapiskat Chief Theresa Spence, is now the co-manager of a band near Cochrane.
He's scheduled to appear in court on the charges at the end of May.
None of the charges against the accused have been proven in court.
