Former OPP officer from Schreiber was handed his sentence Thursday, following a series of incidents that occurred last year.
Const. Gregory Sutton, 41, was arrested in March of 2011, charged with two counts of public mischief and intercepting private communications.
Sutton pleaded guilty in November to making calls to Crime Stoppers and sending an anonymous letter to a school board, stating that a teacher was having sexual relations with students and giving them drugs and alcohol.
Those allegations turned out to be false, and Sutton was later charged.
In court on Thursday, Sutton was sentenced to a six-month conditional sentence, to be served in the community, plus 12 months of probation.
His sentence includes a curfew between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m., and he must stay in Ontario.
He cannot consume drugs or alcohol.
Sutton is also prohibited from using a firearm or weapon for five years.
He has since resigned from the OPP, so he's not expected to face any Police Act charges.
