A Superior Court Justice ruled that a lawsuit launched against the OPP for malicious prosecution and negligent investigation can proceed.

Former Treaty Three Grand Chief Leon Jourdain filed the suit. It comes as a result of a sexual assault charge laid against Jourdain in February of 2004.

The charge was withdrawn in October of that year but not before Jourdain had resigned as Grand Chief.

In his suit, he is asking for $2 million in general damages and a $500,000 in punitive damages.

Jourdain is also seeking about $250,000 from the woman who made the sexual assault allegation.
