Fort Frances man facing charges of robbery, arson

Rainy River OPP responded to a robbery after an individual had threatened an employee of a Fort France business with a used needle while attempting to steal on Friday, Feb. 12.

FORT FRANCES — A 25-year-old Fort Frances man is facing a series of charges following an incident last Friday at a local business.

In a news release issued by OPP on Tuesday, Feb. 16, police responded to a robbery on Scott Street in Fort Frances on Feb. 12 shortly after 8 p.m.

Police say an individual had threatened an employee at a business on Scott Street with a used needle while attempting to steal.

Officers were familiar with the subject and set out to locate him. Shortly after 11 p.m., officers found the subject starting a fire in an enclosed area close to an apartment building.

The man was arrested without further incident and the officers extinguished the fire.

John Perrault, 25, of Fort Frances is charged with robbery, indecent act, arson, mischief under $5,000 and possession of break-in tools.

He was held for bail, police say.
