Fort Frances man facing multiple charges following standoff with OPP

OPP Media Update

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On January 5, 2016 at approximately 10:10 p.m. the Rainy River District Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a male who had barricaded himself in a residence on 200 Block of Second Street East in Fort Frances, ON. 

At approximately 9:35 a.m. on the January 6, 2016,  a 34-year-old Fort Frances man surrendered to police and was taken into custody. Subsequently he has been charged with,

  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Careless Storage of a Firearm
  • Uttering Threats


The accused was released on a Promise to Appear in court of the 22 of February 2016 to answer to the charges.
