Fort Severn First Nation man faces second-degree murder charge in death of 24-year-old woman

A Fort Severn First Nation man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of a 24-year-old woman. A Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service officer and community members responded to a report of a serious assault at a residence on Oct. 16.

A Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service officer and community members responded to a report of a serious assault at a residence on Oct. 16.

They found a seriously injured female and took her to the nursing station.

Georgina Becky Stoney, 24, was treated but succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the nursing station.

Tommy Raymond Miles Jr., 19, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder. He is in custody and will appear in court Oct. 17.

A post-mortem examination is scheduled for Thursday in Kenora.
