FORT SEVERN, Ont. -- Residents of a remote Northern Ontario First Nation are no longer required to remain indoors, nearly 48 hours after reports of shots being fired near a local hotel where a police officer stationed in the community resides.
Nishnawbe Aski Police Services, in a release issued on Wednesday night, said they lifted the order for residents of Fort Severn First Nation, even though no arrests have been made in the incident. Police made the request in the interest of public safety.
Police say their emergency response team remains on scene along with members of NAPS' North West Region Crime Unit.

Fort Severn is located about 850 kilometres north of Thunder Bay near the shore of Hudson's Bay.
