Fort William First Nation gas prices lowest in Ontario

THUNDER BAY — Local motorists looking for the best deal on gas prices in Ontario need only drive across the James Street swing bridge.

Prices at gas bars on the Fort William First Nation were the lowest in the province — as much as 45 cents a litre below the average — as of Wednesday.

According to ontariogasprices.com, the four locations with Ontario's cheapest gas were all located along City Road.

Prices were as low as $1.26 per litre.

The same website showed Ontario's average price at about $1.71 per litre, and the national average price at almost $1.73.

Dwane Whittington, who works at K&A Variety and Gas Bar on Fort William FIrst Nation, said the manager there "gets her price in the morning, and is fair about it, and they just keep their prices as low as they can."

He added that "usually it's about 30 cents cheaper than in town but now it's 40 or 50 cents cheaper."

The lowest price in the City of Thunder Bay on Wednesday was about $1.55, according to ontariogasprices.com, but elsewhere in the city prices were as high as $1.79.
