THUNDER BAY -- Local community organizations receive $278,480 in Fort William Rotary funding.

All around the world Rotarians live their lives based on the credo of Service Above Self. The members of Fort William Rotary once again truly demonstrated service above self as the club distributed $278,480 to 10 local charitable organizations.

On Oct. 24, six local organizations received $183,900 at the Fort William Rotary Club Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner. Another seven organizations received $94,580 over the past four months.

“Each year, I continued to be amazed what this small club can do to make such a positive and significant contribution in making Thunder Bay a better place for everyone,” says Sante Sottile, President of Fort William Rotary Club.

“Fort William Rotarians, along with the dedicated community volunteers, work incredibly hard to raise the funds necessary to support so many organizations and the incredible work that they do in our community.”

Most of the funds donated by Fort William Rotary are raised through the annual Fort William Rotary House Lottery. The 2018 Fort William Rotary House Lottery, the 32nd such draw, sold 12,000 tickets between March and May.

The home selected for the proposed 2019 Rotary Lottery House is a beautiful brand new home, built by Lormar Construction (Mario Michieli), located in the Sherwood Estates area

Tickets for the 33rd annual draw are anticipated to go on sale in the Spring of 2019 at local retailers and at weekend open houses at the lottery house. The draw is planned for July 1, 2019.

“We are very thankful for the community support of our annual House Lottery,” says Sottile. “It would not be possible to do what we do for our community without the support that we receive.”
