THUNDER BAY – A Dawson Road hotel was the scene of the Thunder Bay Police Service’s latest drug bust.

Police say they were called to the hotel, located in the 1000 block of the busy thoroughfare, just before 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, after a report of male being threatened.

Officers arrived on scene to find the male in question had been assaulted, and during the course of their investigation identified possible suspects allegedly involved in the assault.

Two suspects were immediately arrested at the hotel, which led to the discovery of a quantity of suspected crack cocaine, nearly $8,000 in cash and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking. Two more were arrested at a later time.

Mississauga’s Shane Benjamin, 25, was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, probation order non-compliance and two counts of failing to comply with a condition recognizance.

Anthony Nicholas Kaplanis, 38, of Thunder Bay is charged with assault, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, obstructing a peace officer, failing to comply with condition recognizance and probation order non compliance.

Mosiah Moses Peter, 39, of Mississauga, is charged with assault, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Finally, Celine Marie Belleau, 37, of Thunder Bay, is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a condition undertaking.

All four appeared in court on Monday and were remanded into custody awaiting future court appearances.
