Four to receive honourary degrees during LU convocation ceremonies

THUNDER BAY -- Four individuals will receive honourary degrees during convocation ceremonies at Lakehead University next month.

The University has announced honourary doctorates for Dr. Arnold Aberman, recognizing his many contributions to the advancement of medicine and his key role in establishing the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Richard Wagamese, an internationally renowned author and journalist is being recognized for  his works on the residential school system and discrimination against Aboriginal people.

Also being honoured are Bob Rae and Frank Iacobucci for their many contributions during their long careers in politics and the law respectively. The degrees will also honour their recent contribution to the development of the Ring of Fire.

Convocation ceremonies are scheduled for May 30 and 31.
