OPP officers responded to the crash between a pickup and transport truck on Highway 17 that killed five people shortly after 10:45 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 19. The crash took place about 15 kilometres east of English River.

Police say the pickup truck was heading westbound on the highway when it crashed with the commercial motor vehicle heading east.

Two other commercial motor vehicles suffered damage, but none of the occupants of those vehicles sustained any injuries.

Police have confirmed that Sukhwinder S. Thandi, of Cambridge, Ont., was the driver of the transport truck involved and was one of the five victims killed.

Post mortem examinations for the the four other adult men are being conducted in Toronto.

The investigation continues.
