THUNDER BAY -- Halloween began around noon for the hundreds of local families put their costumes on display and played games at Prince Arthur's Landing on Saturday.
The fourth annual Spooktacular was a fleet recycled materials turned to art, fused with children's games and candy.
"We wanted to have an event where everybody would be able to come," said Lorraine Cull, one of the operators of the Baggage Building Arts Centre.
"There's a lot of really wonderful events that happen in the ctiy for Halloween but there's a fee and not everyone can affrod a fee so we thought, 'lets do something that everybody can attend."
Children bowled down pop bottle pins costumed as Minions from the firlm Despicable Me. Nearby, others posed for photos on the throne of swords from the television series Game of Thrones. Upstairs, the brave conquered the black light maze.
All events awarded candy and chocolate for success but for Cull, the costumes of the event's guests were the real display.
"There's something fun about getting dressed up," Cull said.
"You can be who you are and not necessarily feel like you're on display because you're hidden behind a mask in some ways, which is fun."
