A provincial judge adjourned the case involving a 53-year-old-woman who allegedly stole nearly $150,000 from Lakehead University until the summer.

David Dubinsky, who represents Toni Powers, appeared in Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay for his client Tuesday. The Thunder Bay Police Service charged Powers with fraud over $5,000 and theft over $5,000 in October 2009.

Lakehead University contacted Thunder Bay Police to conduct an investigation in January 2009. Police say the investigation revealed a loss of nearly $150,000.

Powers worked at the university’s Bookstore.

Dubinsky said Powers had recently gone through shoulder surgery and would need 12 weeks to recover before sentencing.

Justice Joyce Pelletier adjourned the matter to June 6.
