TORONTO -- Licence-free fishing is coming to Ontario starting on Saturday.
The province said families can enjoy fishing across Ontario from July 3 to July 11 without the need to buy a fishing licence or to carry an outdoors card.
“Fishing is a time-honoured tradition and terrific way for families to spend time together,” said Greg Rickford, Minister of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, in a release issued on Wednesday evening.
“I hope everyone in Ontario is able to head down to a lake or river and take part in Free Fishing Week, this year.”
Rickford went on to remind families taking part in Free Fishing Week to adhere to the Step 2 regulations of Ontario's reopening plan and to follow fishing regulations -- including catch and size limits.
