Freezing drizzle advisory issued for Thunder Bay, Superior West

THUNDER BAY — A period of of wet, potentially slippery weather, is on the way for the city and some surrounding areas.

Environment Canada issued a freezing drizzle advisory late Monday afternoon for Thunder Bay, as well as the Kakabeka Falls, Dorion, Cloud Bay, Whitefish Lake, and Arrow Lake areas.

The weather statement said a long-lasting period of freezing drizzle is expected to start Monday night and likely ending Tuesday afternoon, though its possible it could continue into Wednesday.

Environment Canada said lake effect snow will mix with the freezing drizzle, and it may completely change to snow Tuesday afternoon. It's also possible that the freezing drizzle will continue to remain mixed with the snow until ending Wednesday night.

The advisory cautioned that roadways and walkways will become icy, slippery and hazardous, with thin, hard to notice layers of ice. People are advised to slow down in slippery conditions and maintaining a safe following distance.
