THUNDER BAY - The Friends of Chippewa Park have launched a new 50/50 draw following on the heels of their successful Catch the Chippewa Ace lottery,  with the profits going to support Family Fest 101 which will be held from July 28 to Aug. 1.

“This is our fourth lottery in a series to raise money for the Family Fest 101, which is a five-day free admission festival this summer at Chippewa Park and we’ve been using the lotteries as a way to provide our working capital,” said Ian Angus, project manager.

“And this one will be going toward paying for the entertainers that we’ve contracted with to be on the stage.”

The 50/50 draw will be held at noon on the last Wednesday of each month starting on May 25 and while there will only be 15 days to purchase tickets for the first draw, subsequent draw tickets will be available for a full month.

“It’s going to be open air. We’ve got the main stage from the city. We’ve got room for between 5,000 and 7,000 people on field number one,” said Angus.

“We’re also running the children’s festival behind the pavilion, including a catch and release fish derby. There will be fireworks and lots of food vendors, lots of merchandise vendors.”

Lottery tickets can only be purchased online at http://www.chippewapark.ca with a range of prices from 5 tickets for $10 to 200 tickets for $80.
