THUNDER BAY - Anyone who got a jump on the gardening season will need to cover up those plants as temperatures are expected to drop to near freezing overnight.

Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory for the city of Thunder Bay. Temperatures will drop to 2 C early Monday morning but it will feel like 0 C.

Frost advisories are issued during the growing season when temperatures reach the freezing mark and could cause damage to plants or crops.

Despite what the calendar says, temperatures will remain below normal for the next several days, with overnight lows of between 8 C and 6 C until Thursday.

Daytime highs will rise on Wednesday to 21 C but then drop again to 17 C for the weekend where it will stay for the next two weeks.

Average daytime highs for early June are between 20 C and 21 C.
